Announced yesterday, this Windows application is expected to revolutionize the way users interact with Windows across platforms. The Windows App, Now available for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, web browsers, Android devices, and Windows PCs, serves as a unified hub for streaming Windows 11 from multiple sources. It supports various Microsoft services including Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Remote Desktop and more, making it a complete solution for personal and business use.
The new app is the culmination of nearly a year of testing and development, and comes with a host of features designed to improve user experience and productivity. The customizable home screen lets users tailor their interface, while multi-monitor support ensures a seamless workflow across multiple screens. It even gets a USB redirection featurewhich allows users to use local devices such as webcams, storage devices, and printers as if they were directly connected to a PC in the cloud.

The Windows app is already available for all users
For now, the Windows app is primarily for work and school accounts, and is an evolution of existing Remote Desktop clients. It’s especially useful for professionals who need to access their work PCs from personal devices, as It provides a familiar Windows environment, regardless of the host operating system. For example, you will have access to a Windows environment directly from your iPhone.
It’s worth noting that there are currently no plans to support consumer accounts. This aligns with Microsoft’s long-term vision of moving Windows entirely to the cloud, a strategy aimed at improving AI-powered services and enabling full roaming of users’ digital experiences.
The Windows App rollout is broad, with availability across multiple platforms. Windows users can download it from the Microsoft Store, while Apple users can find it on the App Store for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. Android users aren’t left out, as a public preview version is launching today.
