PowerToys enrich the Windows 11 context menu with very practical options for users. Whether in terms of security or file management, the new features are worth a look.

Windows 11 may have many features to offer, but sometimes you might be looking for one that Microsoft unfortunately hasn’t bothered to implement. But that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. The company has thought of you by relaunching the PowerToysa set of optional tools abandoned in the early 2000s and then relaunched with Windows 10. The advantage is that any developer can add their own, the program being open source. This guarantees constant evolution and new features.
For many, PowerToys have become indispensable, and indeed, they allow useful things in everyday life like setting up workspaces in one click or creating any type of file from the context menu. It is also the latter that is enriched thanks to the work of Aaron Junker. He created a set of features, one of which is focused on user security. Let’s see how she does it.
Windows 11 context menu gains handy options thanks to PowerToys
The idea is to check the checksum in one click of your files, or checksum in French. It is in some way a unique signature to ensure that the file has not been modified by anyone. For example, you download a Windows ISO from a site and compare its checksum with the one provided by Microsoft to be sure that it is the same. It is also possible to select two files at the same time for comparison or to do it with a checksum saved in the clipboard.
Other interesting additions: the Lock/Unlock Files from Context Menu and the copy an image (not the file) via right click. In fact, you will have to use a shortcut to see these features, they will not be directly added to the context menu. Aaron Junker indicates thatThey are only available on Windows 11but that it could bring them to Windows 10 at an undetermined date.
